Botany Downs Secondary College welcomes international students!
The college is located in Botany Downs, Howick - an attractive sea side suburb in east Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. Botany Downs Secondary College is a thirty minute drive from the centre of the city, and also from the international airport. Within ten minutes of the school are beaches, large shopping centres, cinema - entertainment complexes, a range of ethnic shops and restaurants (including Chinese, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese).
At Botany Downs Secondary College, international students are taught alongside our local students as well as receiving additional English language support from our ESOL department.
The unique blend of Kiwi and Asian cultures in the college and local community means students can benefit from a new English speaking culture while still being amongst their own people. This allows international students to make an easier transition to the college and is very rare in New Zealand and around the world.
A real strength of Botany Downs Secondary College is the large team of people dedicated to the Pastoral care of all students.
This includes the Whanau House Leaders who monitor the progress and welfare of all students, plus a team of Language Support teachers and advisors, specially selected for overseas students - several of whom can help overseas students in their own language.
We try hard to match student’s needs and requests to families who will provide a supportive, secure environment. The college maintains frequent contact with Homestay families through the year to ensure that both the student and family are happy.
