Co-Curricular » Summer Sports
Summer Sports take place in Terms 1 and 4. At BDSC we offer the following Summer Sports*.
Swimming
After BDSC’s annual Swimming Sports Day, which is held very early in Term 1, our best swimmers are selected to represent the school at various swim meets in the Auckland and Counties Manukau region.

Athletics
Similar to swimming, we select our athletes after the annual BDSC Athletics sports days. Selecting the best athletics to represent the school. Our athletes then compete in the Auckland Girls or Boys qualifying meet, anyone who qualifies then goes onto the Finals meet. Athletes that then finish in the top 3 in their event, go onto the Champ of Champs meet, whereby they face competition from the greater Auckland area. In past years we have always been represented well at all athletic meets in the area.

Tennis
At BDSC we have teams representing the Juniors, Intermediate and Seniors in both boys and girls grades. Tennis continues over both Terms 1 and 4, therefore having a large break in the middle of the competition. All matches take place on a Saturday morning.
Golf
In 2010, we entered 2 teams into the Auckland Schools Golf competition. To play golf for the school, you must be a registered player of a club and have a handicap.

Touch
Touch is has always been popular at BDSC, again it is a sport where the Seniors play in Term 1 and the Junior in Term 4. As well as boys and girls teams, we also have a mixed team. All games take place on a Tuesday afternoon at Macleans College.
Multisport - (Triathlon,Aquathon)
BDSC currently does not have a Multisport ‘team/squad’, but these sports are available to individuals who wish to compete. In past years we have always had a small number of students that represent the school at Auckland wide events.
Equestrian
The opportunity for individuals with horses who want to compete is available at BDSC. In 2010, we competed in both Cross Country and Dressage events. Most events take place during Term 1.
Teacher in Charge of Equestrian: Ms Claire Joyce Email: c.joyce@bdsc.shcool.nz
Volleyball
Vollleyball is a developing sport at BDSC. It is currently available to Seniors in Term 1 and Juniors in Term 4.
Dragon Boating
Although not offered in 2010, it is a sport we have previous taken part in and the students absolutely love it. Dragon Boating is a very time-consuming and some what expensive sport to operate, therefore in order for it to run we must have the support from all involved.
Other Summer Sports
Petanque
*At BDSC, we cater to the needs of the students. For example, if we had a gymnast or a cyclist that would like to compete and represent the school, we would endeavour to provide them the opportunity to do so.
