Art is one of humanity’s oldest forms of communication, and to this day is one of the most effective ways of bringing people together. On Saturday 4 October, BDSC Enviroschools hosted our first ever Eco Art Competition. Two students from Year 13 Chinese class participated in the Chinese Song Contest held by Confucius Institute at Victoria University of Wellington to showcase their talents. Outstanding Results in the NZ Chinese Calligraphy Competition
Students from Year 12 and 13 Chinese classes achieved outstanding results in the 16th New Zealand Chinese Calligraphy Competition, organised by the Confucius Institute at the University of Canterbury.MORE
Year 9 Chinese Class Making Mooncake
At the end of Term 3, our Year 9 Chinese class was given the opportunity to learn about the Mid-Autumn festival and its celebratory food, the Mooncake. Our teacher, Laoshi Kuang, invited some mooncake experts to teach us about the Mid-Autumn festival. We learned the Chinese name of the festival and its pronunciation, the traditional story behind it, and how people in China celebrate it!MORE
