During the April school holidays, Rainie Tang 13B1 was selected to participate in the New Zealand International Biology Olympiad training and selection camp, after her participation in the summer tutorial programme. Throughout the 10-day residential camp, Rainie worked with NZIBO tutors and the faculty of the University of Otago, partaking in labs, seminars, and fieldwork. Two of her highlights were our Botany Lab and visiting the Anatomy Museum. Rainie was noted by NZIBO executive members as having a hunger to learn and a tenacious spirit, as well as strengths in bioinformatics. The NZIBO is a highly selective programme aimed at fostering interest, participation, and excellence in Biology and Rainie’s advancement to the camp stage earned her an NZIBO Silver Award.
