Kia orāna, fakaalofa lahi atu, mālō e lelei, tālofa lava, ni sa bula vinaka, talofa, mālo ni

In Week 1 of Term 3, we celebrated Pasifika Languages Week. The school came alive with music and the rich spirit of the Pacific Islands. This event was organised by the Pasifika Council and was dedicated to honouring and sharing our Pasifika cultures.

Throughout the week, each whānau decorated the whare with flags, language posters and cultural items from across the Pacific.

From Monday to Thursday, students gathered under the bridge and in the PAC to enjoy performances representing Niue, Cook Islands, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. Performers demonstrated their dedication, creativity and enthusiasm through beautiful dances and songs.

On Friday, we ended on a delicious note with food stalls offering a range of traditional Pasifika dishes. This included panikeke, pani popo, sapasui and chicken curry. A big thank you to Bernadine Russell who made the beautiful Pacific themed cupcakes.

We’d also like to give a heartfelt thank you to Ms MacDonald for all the incredible work she put into this event and into supporting the Pasifika Council as a whole. We truly appreciate the dedication, time and effort she puts in behind the scenes to help bring our Council’s ideas to life.

Special acknowledgement must also be given to our student performers:
