An interschool wearable art event hosted by Botany Downs Secondary College.
It gives students an opportunity to work collaboratively in groups or individually to produce a wearable art garment and showcase it on a catwalk.
This year we were raising funds for our very first Visual Art student enrichment tour to the USA. We had entries from Sommerville Intermediate, Howick intermediate, St Kents, Mission Heights Junior College, Macleans College and Botany Downs Secondary College this year.
These two garments are currently on display at the Uxbridge Arts Centre this week – pop in and have a look!
Life’s a Picnic
Ashley Dolden, Kate Brooks, Jenessa Davis, Robert Raynes
We got our inspiration from a Kiwi picnic. Our garment was created from an old pinic blanket, pair of pants and house hold items. The apron has been hand embroidered with iconic kiwi treats.
They won the “In Your Own Backyard Category” and the overall “2017 Supreme Art to Where? Award”
The Autumn Bird
A depiction of colours of Autumn leaves in an imaginary bird celebrating New Zealand’s diversity of its people and the beautiful country we live in.
