On Friday 15 May, Pink Shirt Day, and our Hauora Council made it unforgettable! A week full of fun activities like Warm Fuzzies, crafting friendship bracelets, a delicious bake sale, and a creative photo frame activity brought us all together. We celebrated kindness and raised anti-bullying awareness, creating a positive and supportive atmosphere across our school. Let’s keep the spirit alive every day!
Beginner English Language (BLC) Pink Shirt Day Party
On Friday 15 May, we celebrated Pink Shirt Day in our BLC class. Pink Shirt Day is about standing together against bullying. We need to be kind to everyone. Being kind is a beautiful quality in our lives. We should always be kind and helpful. If everyone is kind to each other, our world would be a much better place.
We prepared a party to celebrate Pink Shirt Day, and to teach us to be kind.
First, we prepared what we needed for the party. We bought some snacks, strawberry juice, lollipops of various flavours, and delicious burgers. We also made some Pink Shirt Day posters, and we hung pink leis and pink bunting on the wall. It looked very pretty. We also wrote an email to invite Mrs Viegas to come to our party.
Then, in Period 3, Mrs MacDonald put the food on some pink plates and then our teacher played some songs while we happily ate our party food. When we finished eating, we played a game called “cup and ball’ which I found a little difficult.
Finally, we took some photos and I felt happy because it had been an enjoyable day. The best part was when we worked together to complete the game.

On Friday 15 May, we celebrated Pink Shirt Day in our Beginner English Language class (BLC). Pink Shirt Day is about being kind to everyone. A good friend is always kind and helpful. We should care about our friends and listen to them patiently.
In New Zealand, many students and workers experience bullying every year. Bullying costs New Zealand employers $1.34 billion every year. I wore pink clothes to support anti-bullying.
Firstly, we prepared a party to celebrate and it was fun and beautiful.
The classroom had long pink bunting flags and a lot of Pink Shirt Day posters. There were also two pink leis hanging between the pictures.
When Mrs Chan and Mrs Viegas arrived, we ate little pink cupcakes. I really liked the popcorn, and the chicken was delicious. After I finished eating, I drank some orange soda, which tasted a bit strange! We also took photos at the party.
Next, we played a “cup and ball game” that Mrs MacDonald set up for us. The game had two teams, and each team had four people. We had to throw the balls into the cups. It was a lot of fun.
At the end, I felt very happy because it was an unforgettable experience.
The best part was learning to “Speak up, stand together, and stop bullying.”
