On Sunday 29 April, a few BDSC students took part in the Howick Youth Council’s beach cleanup, in collaboration with Sustainable Coastlines.
Despite the overcast weather, the volunteers pushed through and walked the entirety of Eastern Beach, picking up over three large rubbish bags of waste. This allowed students to see the extent of pollution covering our Auckland beaches and make a change to combat this, giving back to the community. The productive day was concluded with a sausage sizzle and music, bringing students from local schools together and celebrating a successful cleanup!
