The 19th Oceania Karate Championships was held in Auckland on Friday 18 and Saturday 20 May 2018. The tournament encompassed two events, the Oceania Championships, and the Oceania Cup.
Student Norbu Law of 10K6 was selected for the team as Cadet Kata Male and Cadet Kumite Male -52kg.
Norbu was an amazing competitor winning two golds and a silver!
The Oceania Championships
The Oceania Championships is the continental championships for the Oceania Region. The tournament is recognized and supported by the World Karate Federation. The number of competitors is limited to 2 per division. The competition categories are identical to those of Senior World Championships and the Cadet, Junior and U21 World Championships. The WKF competition Rules will be applied.
The Oceania Cup
The Oceania Cup is an open event for competitors aged 10 to 13 as at the date of the tournament. It is being held for the continuing development of our younger athletes and reflects the events being held by WKF at events such as the annual World Youth Camp in Umag, Croatia. There is no limit to the number of competitors from each country. Only that each competitor must be a member of their national federation. The competition categories are identical to those of the World Youth Cup. WKF competition rules will be applied.
