On Thursday 21 September, twenty Year 11 students attended a day at both Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) and New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA). MIT and NZMA are education providers that offer a range of courses for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the Trades after they finish school.
Students spent the morning at MIT TechPark campus, which is a purpose-built facility with the latest technology and innovations, bringing all the Institute’s trades and engineering schools under one roof. This allows students and staff with cross-disciplinary skills and requirements to have ease of access to share and collaborate within the mix of open plan and closed classrooms as they gain 21st-century skills required and valued by employers.
Students were then accompanied to NZMA where they learnt about the pre-trade courses. Students were given a tour of the campus and completed activities relating to the trades.
This was a great opportunity for our students to gain valuable knowledge about potential career paths in the trades. We look forward to taking another group of students again next year.
