Spirit Year 9 Camp

17 Mar 2025

The Year 9 Spirit camp was so much fun! I loved all the activities and the spooky stories our Lead Students told us. The next few paragraphs tell you about the activities I enjoyed the most at camp.

Rifle Shooting

The instructors first told us about the boring safety guidelines, then showed us how to load the rifle. Only four people were allowed to use the rifles at a time, so my friends and I went together. We were all able to shoot down the cans (our first targets). After that, we had to try to shoot metal ducks that were in a small box, we hit three out of the four ducks. In the middle of the ducks was a circle smaller than the ducks and if you hit it, all the ducks come back up, and I was able to hit it with a rock! (Mind you, the box was around a car distance away and the circle was as big as a lid of a flattened bottle cap.)

Leap of Faith

Leap of faith is one of the scariest things I have ever done. There was a huge pole that we had to climb up, jump off at the top, and try to hit an orange ball that was dangling in the air. While one person was climbing the pole, the rest of us would help the instructor pull the ropes that were helping the person climb. When it was my turn, I made a mistake by looking down, and holy henry, I felt like I was on the top of the sky tower! My legs were not happy with me, but I was able to hit the orange ball as I jumped off the pole. I would so do it again!

Talent Quest

Talent quest! The funniest activity yet! Everyone watched each group perform different things. One group did a fake TikTok dance and the boys killed it, another group did a fashion show, and another did an impression of the teachers! My group did impressions of the Lead Students, I did an impression of Dmitri, and it’s safe to say, I think he enjoyed my performance. Our performance made everyone laugh, and we won second place!

I had such a blast at camp. If I could magically turn back time, I would do it all over again.
