On behalf of all the students and staff that took part in ShowQuest 2021, it was an absolute honour to represent Botany Downs Secondary College at Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre. After missing our opportunity to return last year due to the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the country, we came into this competition ready to make a name for ourselves as previously we had not received any awards. Fast forward to July 2021, we certainly delivered an outstanding performance.
The nine minute piece titled ‘The Journey to Acceptance’ followed the story of a young girl overcoming grief. Botany Downs received two main awards on the night for ‘Best Choreography’ and the ‘ZM Soundtrack’ award. The day and night went smoothly and it was amazing to see the students take ownership of their work and lead the school to a small victory.
The students would like to thank the staff who have supported them through this journey and for providing an opportunity like this. We cannot wait for the next one!
